Why Replace Diaphragms?

Diaphragms are a critical wear component in AR252 pumps. If a diaphragm ruptures:

  • Chemicals can enter the crankcase oil
  • Oil may appear milky or gray in color
  • Internal pump components can suffer severe damage
  • Pump efficiency can decrease significantly
  • Repairs become more costly if not addressed promptly

If pump oil appears milky gray, inspect and replace diaphragms immediately.

Recommended Service Intervals

For pumps in continuous operation, AR recommends replacing diaphragms:

  • Every 500 operating hours, or
  • Approximately every 3 months in heavy-use applications

Routine replacement helps prevent unexpected failures and extends overall pump life.

Performance Benefits

  • Restores original pumping performance
  • Maintains proper pressure output
  • Prevents chemical contamination of crankcase oil
  • Improves pump reliability
  • Reduces maintenance costs
  • Extends service life
  • Minimizes equipment downtime
  • Supports consistent spraying performance

Installation Notes

  1. Relieve all system pressure before servicing.
  2. Drain and inspect crankcase oil.
  3. Check for signs of chemical contamination.
  4. Remove worn diaphragms and O-rings.
  5. Install all new diaphragms and seals from the kit.
  6. Replace contaminated oil if necessary.
  7. Reassemble according to AR service procedures.
  8. Test for proper operation and leaks.

Important: If a diaphragm has ruptured, inspect crankcase oil immediately and replace contaminated oil before returning the pump to service.

Maintenance Recommendations

  • Monitor crankcase oil condition regularly.
  • Replace diaphragms at recommended service intervals.
  • Inspect pump performance frequently.
  • Flush chemicals from the system after use.
  • Replace damaged diaphragms immediately.
  • Keep a replacement kit available for high-use equipment.
