Blast Light Function & Importance

The LITE200-125 Blast Light combines a compatible 120VAC electrical supply with low-voltage, focused illumination at the blasting work area.

A simplified operating arrangement can be represented as:

120VAC Power Source → 120VAC-to-12VDC Converter → 125-Foot Cord → LITE200-125 Blast Light → 35W Halogen Lamp → 2400 CBCP Focused Beam

The voltage converter allows the blast light itself to operate at its specified 12VDC while providing a practical connection to the appropriate 120VAC electrical source.

During abrasive blasting, visibility can be reduced by airborne abrasive, dust, shadows, confined workspaces, surface debris, and limited ambient lighting. Positioning a dedicated blast light near the work area provides concentrated illumination that can help the operator maintain a clearer view of the surface.

Proper blast-area illumination can help with:

  • Viewing the active blasting surface
  • Monitoring coating and contamination removal
  • Identifying areas requiring additional blasting
  • Evaluating surface-cleaning progress
  • Inspecting surface coverage
  • Improving visibility in enclosed or poorly illuminated areas
  • Maintaining focused illumination near the blasting operation

The 2400 CBCP specification represents Center Beam Candle Power, which describes the peak luminous intensity at the center of the directional beam. CBCP should not be confused with lumens and does not indicate a 2400-lumen total light output.

Inspection, Service & Maintenance

Before installing, inspecting, or servicing the LITE200-125 Halogen Blast Light, disconnect the assembly from its electrical power source and shut down associated blasting equipment according to applicable manufacturer procedures.

Periodically inspect the complete assembly for:

  • Cuts, abrasion, or damage to the 125-foot cord
  • Crushed, pinched, or excessively bent cord sections
  • Loose electrical connections
  • Damaged plugs or connectors
  • Converter damage
  • Cracked or damaged lens components
  • Worn or damaged strain-relief components
  • Halogen lamp failure
  • Loose mounting components
  • Abrasive accumulation around the housing or lens
  • Physical impact damage
  • Damaged seals or retaining components
  • Evidence of overheating or electrical deterioration

The LITE200 blast light family uses serviceable components including the 35W / 2400 CBCP replacement lamp, Pyrex lens with O-ring, lamp socket, retaining components, and blast light body.

When replacing the lamp, use the specified LITE290284 / LITE284 35W replacement bulb or the applicable manufacturer-approved equivalent. Do not install a higher-wattage lamp solely to increase light output, as this can increase electrical load and heat generation beyond the intended design.

After service, verify that the lamp, lens, seals, retaining components, cord, converter, and electrical connections are properly secured before returning the assembly to operation.

Application & Important Notes

  • This listing is for the Pirate Brand LITE200-125 complete 120VAC-to-12VDC 35W Halogen Blast Light Assembly with 125-foot cord.
  • LITE200-125 includes the applicable 120VAC-to-12VDC converter.
  • Input power is 120VAC, while the blast light operates at 12VDC.
  • Rated lamp power is 35 watts.
  • Approximate lamp current draw at 12V is 2.91666 amps.
  • Light intensity is rated at 2400 CBCP (Center Beam Candle Power).
  • The assembly uses an extended 125-foot cord configuration.
  • This model is part of the LITE100 / LITE200 12V no-air blast light family.
  • Do not confuse LITE200-125 with the standard LITE200, which is a 12V 35W / 2400 CBCP configuration supplied with a shorter 10-foot cord and without the 120VAC-to-12VDC converter configuration.
  • Do not confuse LITE200-125 with LITE200-075 or LITE200-150, which use the same 35W / 2400 CBCP lighting configuration but feature 75-foot and 150-foot cord configurations, respectively.
  • Do not confuse the 35W / 2400 CBCP LITE200 series with the lower-output 20W / 1750 CBCP LITE100 series.
  • Use LITE290284 / LITE284 as the applicable 35W / 2400 CBCP replacement bulb reference.
  • 2400 CBCP is a center-beam intensity measurement and is not equivalent to 2400 lumens.
  • Verify that the available electrical source meets the manufacturer's voltage and power requirements before connecting the assembly.
  • Do not install a higher-wattage lamp, modify the converter, alter the wiring, or otherwise change the specified electrical configuration.
  • Inspect the full length of the 125-foot cord before use, particularly in abrasive environments where electrical cables can be exposed to abrasion, crushing, impact, and sharp edges.
  • Additional sealed strain-relief provisions may be required when blast-light equipment is used with electrically conductive abrasive media such as steel shot or steel grit, depending on the equipment configuration and manufacturer's requirements.
  • Follow all applicable electrical, grounding, abrasive blasting, PPE, and equipment safety procedures for the specific work environment.
  • This listing is for one LITE200-125 complete blast light assembly with 120VAC-to-12VDC converter and 125-foot cord unless otherwise specified. Replacement bulbs, lenses, sockets, strain-relief components, and other service parts are sold separately unless explicitly included.
