Blast Light Function & Importance

The LITE100-150 Blast Light combines a 120VAC power connection with low-voltage illumination at the blasting work area.

A simplified operating arrangement can be represented as:

120VAC Power Source → 120VAC-to-12VDC Converter → 150-Foot Cord → LITE100-150 Blast Light → 20W Halogen Lamp → 1750 CBCP Focused Beam

The voltage-conversion system allows the blast light itself to operate at its specified low voltage while providing a practical connection to the appropriate 120VAC electrical source.

The 150-foot cord configuration provides extended positioning flexibility for blasting operations where the work area is located a significant distance from the available power connection.

During abrasive blasting, visibility can be reduced by airborne abrasive, dust, shadows, confined spaces, surface debris, and limited ambient lighting. Positioning a dedicated light near the work surface can help operators:

  • View the active blasting area
  • Monitor surface-cleaning progress
  • Observe coating and contamination removal
  • Identify areas requiring additional blasting
  • Evaluate blasting coverage
  • Improve visibility in enclosed or poorly illuminated areas
  • Maintain focused illumination closer to the work surface

The 1750 CBCP specification represents Center Beam Candle Power, which measures the peak luminous intensity at the center of the directional beam. CBCP is not the same measurement as lumens and should not be interpreted as a 1750-lumen output rating.

Inspection, Service & Maintenance

Before installing, inspecting, or servicing the LITE100-150 Halogen Blast Light, disconnect the assembly from its electrical power source and shut down the associated blasting equipment according to applicable manufacturer procedures.

Periodically inspect the assembly for:

  • Cuts or damage to electrical cord insulation
  • Abrasion along the 150-foot cord
  • Crushed, pinched, or excessively bent cord sections
  • Loose or damaged electrical connections
  • Plug or connector damage
  • Converter damage
  • Cracked or damaged lens components
  • Worn strain-relief components
  • Halogen lamp failure
  • Loose mounting hardware
  • Abrasive accumulation around the housing or lens
  • Physical impact damage
  • Damaged seals or retaining components
  • Evidence of excessive heat or electrical deterioration

When replacing the lamp or servicing the light, use components specified for the 12V, 20W LITE100 configuration.

Do not substitute a higher-wattage lamp solely to increase illumination. A higher-wattage lamp can increase electrical current draw and heat generation, potentially exceeding the intended electrical and thermal characteristics of the assembly.

After servicing, verify that the lamp, lens, seals, retaining components, electrical connections, converter, and cord are properly secured before returning the light to operation.

Application & Important Notes

  • This listing is for the Pirate Brand LITE100-150 complete 120VAC-to-12VDC 20W Halogen Blast Light Assembly with 150-foot cord.
  • The assembly includes the applicable 120VAC-to-12VDC power conversion for this configuration.
  • Input power is 120VAC, while the blast light operates at 12VDC.
  • Rated lamp power is 20 watts.
  • Approximate current draw at 12V is 1.66666 amps.
  • Light intensity is rated at 1750 CBCP (Center Beam Candle Power).
  • The assembly uses an extended 150-foot cord configuration.
  • This is a no-air blast light and does not require a dedicated compressed-air supply for light cooling.
  • Do not confuse LITE100-150 with the standard LITE100, which is the 12V 20W / 1750 CBCP configuration supplied with a 10-foot cord and without the 120VAC-to-12VDC converter configuration.
  • Do not confuse LITE100-150 with LITE100-125, which uses the same 20W / 1750 CBCP lighting configuration but is supplied with a 125-foot cord.
  • Do not confuse the 20W / 1750 CBCP LITE100 series with the higher-output 35W / 2400 CBCP LITE200 series.
  • Verify that the available electrical source meets the manufacturer's voltage and power requirements before connecting the assembly.
  • Use only the specified replacement lamp or an approved equivalent with the correct voltage, wattage, dimensions, and electrical characteristics.
  • Do not substitute a higher-wattage lamp, modify the converter, alter the wiring, or otherwise change the electrical configuration.
  • 1750 CBCP is a center-beam intensity measurement and is not equivalent to 1750 lumens.
  • Inspect the full length of the 150-foot cord before use, particularly in abrasive environments where cords may be exposed to abrasion, crushing, impact, sharp edges, and other mechanical damage.
  • Additional sealed strain-relief provisions may be required when blast-light equipment is used with electrically conductive abrasive media, depending on the equipment configuration and manufacturer's requirements.
  • Follow all applicable electrical, grounding, abrasive blasting, PPE, and equipment safety procedures for the specific work environment.
  • This listing is for one LITE100-150 complete blast light assembly with 120VAC-to-12VDC converter and 150-foot cord unless otherwise specified. Replacement lamps, lenses, sockets, mounting components, strain-relief components, and other service parts are sold separately unless explicitly included.
